The Stillwater Story first began as a DIY blog chronicling all the home projects my husband and I undertook as newlyweds in our first home. I enjoyed sharing the ups and downs of home renovations, and in 2013, I stopped blogging due to a cross country move and the birth of our first daughter. Since that time, we have had another daughter, moved (again!) and welcomed a second golden retriever to our family. We have been in our current home for several years and (most) of the moving boxes are unpacked, so I am eager to return to blogging to share my home décor inspiration, DIY tutorials and client projects (I offer online and local interior decorating services).
My approach to decorating is inspired by classic New England style that is equally comfortable to live in. For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in finding ways to make a house a home. In fact, I remember being a fourth grader and subscribing to Martha Stewart Living magazine (which I read religiously and still have many clippings filed away). I always felt that she embodied that timeless style I am so drawn to and inspired by. Equally important to me is finding ways to incorporate this classic style as affordably as possible. “Traditional design” and “inexpensive” don’t always go hand in hand, but that’s what this blog is all about – sharing DIY tutorials and ideas along with decorating consultations to make your house a timelessly classic (and affordable) home. Welcome!
